It was an amazing discovery to learn of the role that hedgehogs play in the story of the iconic Clontarf Castle Hotel! As a result, the hotel has become a one of Project Hedgehog's important corporate supporters.
It was an amazing discovery to learn of the role that hedgehogs play in the story of the iconic Clontarf Castle Hotel! As a result, the hotel has become a one of Project Hedgehog's important corporate supporters.
Clontarf Castle uses a hedgehog in its branding because hedgehogs are native to the grounds and the nearby North Bull Island Nature Reserve, linking the hotel to the local wildlife and natural heritage, adding a touch of whimsy to its historic tales of Brian Boru and other legends, and reflecting the rich surrounding biodiversity.
The hotel uses bespoke illustrations, including hedgehogs, alongside figures like Brian Boru and lions, to tell the castle's long and varied history, giving it a unique, approachable charm. While lions and gargoyles represent power and history, hedgehogs offer a gentle, native Irish touch, in the castle's specific environment.
